Dropbox Using Ntfs For Mac
Aliases are pretty Mac specific; I'm not sure how you would generalize that in a way that would even make sense on other operating systems. I've used it to send files to relatives, some of whom are on Macs, and some of whom aren't. I don't need to be particularly worried about which are which; DropBox works with either. I've also used DropBox for moving files between my OS X and BootCamp installations. Yes, there are other ways to achieve that, but DropBox is the one I use - handy as I already had it for other reasons anyway.

I have been using Paragon NTFS since 2008 when I bought my MacBook (still up and running 🙂). I tried Tuxera a long time ago and I did have problems with that one so my advice would also be to use Paragon. Before Dropbox, I wrote files to a NTFS-formatted jump drives for transfer to Windows computers. After the release of Dropbox, I virtually never have cause any more to write to Windows-formatted drives on my Macs.
